Cleaning must remove plaque and odour while preserving fit. The product and water temperature should match the manufacturer and provider instructions.
Clear plastic can scratch, cloud or distort. Hot water is a common avoidable problem. Abrasive toothpaste, coloured mouthwash and harsh household cleaners may also damage appearance or leave residues.
Cleaning the tray without cleaning the teeth is incomplete. Plaque, food and sugar trapped under a clean aligner can still affect enamel and gums.
This website remains a regional educational resource. Both offices offer Invisalign and clear-aligner consultations. Choose the location that is most convenient for you.

Use these as a decision filter at a real consultation.
Use cool or lukewarm water unless the product instructions say otherwise; avoid heat.
Use the provider-approved brush, soap or soaking product and rinse thoroughly.
Brush and floss as directed before reinsertion so the tray does not seal debris against teeth.
Aligners develop biofilm from saliva, plaque and food residue. A daily routine prevents accumulation more effectively than occasional aggressive cleaning.
Scratches can make clear plastic look dull and create irregular surfaces. A dedicated soft brush and non-abrasive product may be recommended, while official cleaning crystals are another option for some appliances.
A useful review should consider:
No single photograph, scan or symptom can answer every one of those questions. The treating provider should explain which records are needed, what each record shows and how the findings change the plan.
A tray that is visibly dirty is not automatically unusable, and a crystal-clear tray is not automatically fitting. Cleanliness and fit are separate checks.
If an aligner warps, cracks near an attachment or develops a sharp edge, ask the office whether to continue, repair, replace or move to another stage. Do not trim structural areas without instruction.
Clean trays when removed in the morning and before bed, with additional rinsing after meals as instructed. Keep the case clean as well; placing a clean tray in a contaminated case defeats the routine.
For travel, carry a small approved cleaning supply rather than improvising with hotel hot water or strong cleaners. Rinse soaking products completely before reinsertion.
